Video-assisted thoracoscopic surgery was used in the treatment of primary spontaneous pneumothorax in 15 cases, between November 1994 - November 1995. Apical bulla and bleb resection in performed by endostapler and apical pleurectomy was done to all of them. In two patients thoracotomy was necessary. The average operation time was 47 minutes and the length of stay in the hospital was 3.6 days postoperatively. Apical bulla and bleb resection with video-assisted thorocoscopy technique is a fast, effective and reliable one and postoperative morbidity is less then thoracotomy.
