Peet et al introduced the term "thoracic outlet syndrome" in 1956, and described an exercise program that is still used frequently. Rob and Standevan used the term "thoracic outlet compression syndrome" in their description of arterial occlusion in the outlet in 1958. TOS is commonly used to describe symptoms resulting from compression of the subclavian vein, subclavian artery, and brachial plexus. The vascular form of TOS was found in 8 %. in arterial TOS, the arm becomes ischemic and cladicates.
