Modified Konno Procedure for the Surgical Treatment of Subaortic Stenosis

The results of conventional operative methods (simple resection, myotonmy and / or myectomy) for diffuse subaortic stenosis have been less than satisfactory, particularly in the severe cases, i.e. tunnel subaortic stenosis and idiopathic hypertrophic subaortic stenosis (IHSS). Incomplete relief of obstruction and recurrene in long term period have been noticed as main problems. In this type of obstructive lesions which aortic annulus is normal, it has been suggested that the modified Konno operation, enlargement of the stenotic segment with a patch placed on the interventricular septum, isa a good alternative method.

In this study, we presented our results with the modified Konno operation which we used for two patients, and the literature rewiev.
