Although mucoepidermoid carcinomas of salivary glands
are often seen, mucoepidermiod carcinomas of bronchial
gland are rare. A 38-year-old female with the complaint
of dyspnea was admitted to our hospital. Bilateral roncus
was detected on physical examination and reduction in
force expiratory volume in one second was found at the
respiratory function test. Thoracic computed tomography
showed a mass lesion mimicking a polyp in upper trachea,
while bronchoscopy revealed a mass occupying upper
tracheal lumen almost completely. We performed tracheal
sleeve resection. The histopathological examination was
reported as tracheal mucoepidermoid carcinoma and
asymptomatic the patient was discharged. The patient was
scheduled for visit at 24 months and she was disease-free.
In this article, a rare case of tracheal mucoepidermoid
carcinoma was presented with the review of the literature.
