Nutcracker syndrome is a rare anatomicopathological
condition. Patients with suspected of Nutcracker
syndrome can be easily diagnosed based on radiological
findings. In this article, we discuss a rare condition of
Nutcracker syndrome in four patients with left renal
vein compression in the light of radiological findings.
Color Doppler ultrasonography and axial and curved
planar reformatted images of multidetector computed
tomography were evaluated. Digital subtraction
angiography was performed in one case. Four cases
were diagnosed with Nutcracker syndrome due to the
left renal vein compression. Left renal vein was found
to be compressed between aorta and superior mesenteric
artery in three and compressed between aorta and
vertebral body in one case. The initial and most critical
step in the diagnosis of Nutcracker syndrome is clinical
suspicion.
