In the past 5 years, 126 patients with lung carcinoma have been admitted to İstanbul Medical Faculty and 71 of them were found to be operable. Patients were analyzed retrospectively
according to age, sex, symptomatology, smoking habits, radiological localization of tumor, staging, prediction of postoperative respiratory problems with Nakahara method before the operation, tumor histology, postoperative complications and surgical morbidity and mortality.
Our results have proven that in cardiothoracic and vascular surgery departments with
high technolocy intensive care units, the surgical mortalitv rate can be lowered down to 3%.
