The aim is to examine the principles of diagnosis and the treatment of peripheral vascular injuries in our two years experience.

Between march 1997 and december 1998, 29 peripheral vascular injuries applied at our clinic resulting from different traumas were searched retrospectively. In addition to vascular trauma, some patients had fractures or multi organ damage.

The effect of venous repair, etiologies and the principles of treatment in arterial patency and the role of duplex ultrasound in diagnosis, the sequence of treatment of the associated pathologies were discussed.

Duplex ultrasound is an important diagnostic tool in vascular injuries and the repair of venous injury determines the arterial patency.
