Utilization of stents in the field of interventionel cardiology has increased tramendeously in the last 2 years and in 1997. In most of the cardiac cathetarization labrotories it comprieses 30-60% of all interventionel precedures. Innovations in stent technology, changes in medical treatment of post-stent care and expanding range of indications have caused this tremendeous increase. However there are some unsolved problems. Some of these are related to the patient and lesion; i.e. trombus containing lesion, diffuse coronary artery disease, severe tortuosity, old saphen vein grafts and some of them are technical i.e., incomplete balloon expansion, operator experience.
It is widely expected that most of these problems will be overcome in the near future and more efficient and extensive utilization of stents will b
