Basilic Vein Transposition as Vascular Access for Hemodialysis

In our study, our purpose is to discuss technique of basilic vein transposition. in a seven year period Istanbul Medical Faculty, Dept. of General Surgery, Peripheric Vascular Unit. 27 basilic vein transposition were created as secondary vascular access procedures in patients undergoing chronic hemodialysis. This procedure can frequently be performed in patients with multiple previous access and has a long term patency rate. Two-year patency rate was 100%. There were three minor complications. The procedure is advised as a reliable secondary access procedure and should be considered before placement of prosthetic graft for long term angioaccess.
