Bronchogenic cyst and congenital lobar emphysema may cause respiratory distress in newborns and in early infants due to compression of surrounding lung tissue and airways. Chest X-ray, computed tomography, esophagography and bronchoscopy are important diagnostic methods. An infant with bronchogenic cyst treated with cystectomy and an infant with congenital lobar emphysema terated with lobectomy causing respiratory distress were presented.
