Methods: Different angiographic approaches in 34 rabbit were evaluated. Lower limb angiographies were obtained by means of different approaches such as following; 1-Percutaneous approach from femoral artery, 2-Surgical approach from femoral artery, 3- Percutaneous abdominal aortic intervention, 4-Transperitoneal abdominal aortic approach, 5-Retroperitoneal aortic approach, 6- Thoracic aortic approach.
Results: The efficacy and the applicability of each approach were evaluated. It was observed that angiographic interventions from femoral artery have some hazards because of smaller caliber of femoral artery, furthermore only one leg can be evaluated via femoral artery. Angiographic interventions from both thoracic aorta and transperitoneal abdominal aorta are more invasive procedures. It was proved that percutaneous interventions are risky in experimental models.
Conclusion: The retroperitoneal aortic approach for the bilateral peripheric angiographic studies has the best results with the least invasion.
