Methods: Thirty male Wistar albino rats weighing 200-300 gr were used in this study. The rats were divided into two groups as the control group and the study group. Osteotomy was performed on same region in each rat. Blood samples were obtained from each rat for biochemical studies and bone X-rays were taken. Human amniotic fluid was applied on the osteotomy line in the study group. The rats were sacrified at 1th, 2nd, and 4th weeks. Tissue samples were examined histopathologically.
Results: No statistically significant differences were found between the groups in the histopathologic examinations, although the differences in some biochemical parameters were statistically significant. There were also no significant differences between the X-ray results.
Conclusion: The human amniotic fluid can be considered as an alternative agent, which is easy to provide and apply also can be used to improve fracture healing.
