Background: Complete and accurate information and statistical evaluations are irresistible necessities for future planning of Health Care administration. Most teaching hospitals (teaching hospitals of Universities, Minister of Health and Social Security Organization) and application have been moved to Hospital Automation Systems on computer network for billing and getting healthy data.
Methods: The "Data Entry Forms" for "Thoracic Surgery", "Adult Cardiac Surgery", "Pediatric Cardiac Surgery" and "Vascular Surgery" will have been developed by the study group formed in the Thoracic and Cardiovascular Surgery Association, and data from these forms will have been evaluated by regular intervals and results of statistical analysis will have been taken.
The study group must also determine that the methods which will be used for data entry, statistical analysis and the intervals necessary for the evaluation of results. The centers sending continuous flow of data in this study group informed with the highest priority for evaluation results, and have to be get possibility for research using the developed database.
Conclusions: Databases for the Cardiothoracic and Vascular Surgical cases in developed countries especially in Europe and America have been developed and an effort have been spent for the integration of this data. We think that this study is required in our country for the future planning and integration with European databases.
