Superior mesenteric artery (SMA) reimplantation is one
of the surgical techniques which can be used for SMA
stenosis. A 76-year-old female case who was admitted
with severe abdominal pain and weight loss was diagnosed
with a 99% SMA stenosis. Superior mesenteric artery was
mobilized to lower border of pancreas and anastomosed
to abdominal aorta in an end-to-side fashion. Postprandial
pain and weight loss resolved completely after surgery, as
an adequate blood flow was restored.
