The Complications of Pneumonectomy and Pulmonary Anatomic Resections Other Than Pneumonectomy

Hospital records of 198 cases pumonary resections, 68 pneumonectomies and 130 anatomic resections other than pneumonectomy, who were operated for different causes by the same surgucal team, between November 1991 to Nevember 1995 were reviewed retrospectively. These two groups are compared statistically according to mortality and determined major complications of hemorrhage, empyeme, arrhytmia and respiratory insufficiency. As a result when hemorrhage, empyeme and arrhytmia are in consideration, a significant difference was found between two groups (p<0.05). When respiratory insuffiency operative and total mortality are censidered, there was no significant difference (p>0.05).
