Diagnosis and treatment of thoracic surgery patients in the era of pediatrics requires sufficient
experience and up-to-date knowledge, as in the adult age group, as well as quite different approaches,
since the child is a growing and developing organism. Therefore, we attempt to compile the approach
to diagnosis and treatment of patients in this era from a multidisciplinary perspective, including current
information and developments. I believe that this study will create a comprehensive resource to which
our valuable scientists, who are experts in their fields, contribute by sharing their clinical experiences,
and I hope that it will be useful for physicians in other relevant specialties, particularly thoracic surgery.
I would like to express my gratitude to all our professors and the editors and assistants of the
Turkish Journal of Thoracic and Cardiovascular Surgery who contributed to the preparation of the
special issue, which will fill a gap in the field, by recognizing their valuable knowledge and efforts.
