A 17-year-old boy who aspirated a pencil-cap six years ago,
was referred to our hospital. At bronchoscopy, left main
bronchus was almost completely obstructed by a membranous
tissue at 2 cm distal to the carina. A bronchotomy
to the left main broncus via left lateral thoracotomy was
performed, the web was excised, and the pencil-cap was
removed. One year after, the bronchus was partially reocclused
by adhesion of the excised web which was revealed at
bronchoscopic reevaluation. The adhered part was separated
by a forceps at rigid bronchoscopy. The bronchus was completely
patent and the patient was uneventful after one year.
