A 63-year-old woman presented with complaints of shortness
of breath, palpitation, angina pectoris, and fatigue
10 years after a left pneumonectomy for carcinoid tumor.
Echocardiography and catheterization showed both mitral
and aortic valve disease. The mitral and aortic valves were
replaced with bileaflet mechanical prostheses. The patient
was discharged on the 12th postoperative day without any
complication. Echocardiographic examination at two months
showed normal cardiac contractility and competent prosthetic
mitral and aortic valves. At the end of postoperative five years,
the patient did not have any cardiac complaints.
