Diaphragmatic eventration is the abnormal elevation of the
diaphragm as a result of paralysis or atrophia of the musculer
fibers. It is generally asymptomatic and detected accidently.
It rarely requires emergency surgery. An 80-year-old
male patient, who had a previous laparotomy 12 years ago,
admitted to our clinic with complaints of severe dyspnea
and ortopnea that developed after severe trauma. The
patient urgently underwent surgery and diaphragm plication
was performed. Patients with diaphragmatic eventration
may experience severe respiratory distress after traumas
that may occur during their follow-ups. It's treatment is the
surgical correction of diaphragm.
