Minimally invasive surgical procedures are frequently used for all surgical branches in recent years. Aortobifemoral or aortofemoral by-pass operations which are the standard treatment for aortoiliac occlusive diseases, can be performed with a standard median laporotomy or even with a smaller incision called minilaporotomy.

Our study includes a comparison between these two different methods. In this study, we analyzed 30 patients who underwent a revascularization procedure with a minilaporotomy technique and also 30 patients with the same properties who had the same revascularization procedure with a standard median laporotomy. We compared the parameters including duration of theoperation, the aortic clempage time, amount of blood transfusion, stay at intensive care unit and hospital, normalization of bowel functions in both groups.

Minilaparatomy technique is becoming more preferred due to its advantages like faster normalization of bowel functions, less stay at intensive care unit and hospital, faster passing to oral nutrition ,less post-operative pain and also cosmetic advantage.
