Bronchial rupture may rarely be seen after blunt thoracic
traumas. As it is difficult to diagnose, there may be delays
in the treatment. A 20-year-old male patient was admitted
to our emergency clinic after an in-car traffic accident.
Bilateral tube thoracostomy was performed for bilateral
hemopneumothorax. The radiological and bronchoscopic
investigations revealed left main bronchus rupture. We
report this case as the bronchial rupture was localized on the
left, which is a more uncommon localization, and left pneumonectomy
was performed due to the dehiscence of bronchial
anastomosis as a result of lung parenchymal infection.
