Coarctation of the aorta associated with coronary
heart disease is an uncommon case. We present a
one-stage operation performed in 2 cases of aortic
Coarctation associated with coronary heart disease.
One of them was also associated with aortic valve
stenosis. Both of the patients undenwent median
sternotomy and assending aorta to descending aorta
bypass grafting with the use of internal thoracic
artery, whereas the second case had a single bypass
grafting with the use of saphenous vein graft and an
aortic valve replacement. There were no postopera-
tive complications. Both cases were symptom-free af-
ter the operation. Magnetic resonance imaging re-
vealed a patent prosthetic aortic bpyass graft and an
internal thoracic artery graft used as a coronary
bypass graft 2 months after the operation in the first
case. it is concluded that aortic Coarctation and
coronary bypass grafting can be done safely in a
one-stage operation through median sternotomy.
