Left atrial appendage aneurysm is a rare anomaly,
which usually present in adulthood. Most patients are
asymptomatic, however they often suffer from palpitations
which usually grows out of atrial tachyarrhythmias. The
main manifestation of the disease is usually systemic
embolism. The major manifestations of such aneurysms
are an abnormal cardiac silhouette; therefore cardiac
tumors or pericardial cysts should be considered in the
differential diagnosis. Various imaging techniques are
useful in diagnosis and allow the differential diagnosis
among other pathologies. Resection of the aneurysm is
the recommended form of treatment. In this article, we
present a 66-year-old female case with aneurysm of the
left atrial appendage. The patient was admitted with
atrial fibrillation and recurrent systemic embolizations.
Diagnosis was based on transthoracic and transesophageal
echocardiography. The patient was treated by surgical
resection of the aneurysm under extracorporeal circulation.
