A 61-year-old male patient with paraplegia resulting from
working accident was admitted to a private hospital.
He underwent bilateral tube thoracostomy and left arm
amputation. The patient, who underwent thorax computed
tomography on third day during the follow-up, was referred
to our clinic due to suspected tracheal rupture. When the
diagnosis of tracheal rupture was confirmed by rigid and
fiberoptic broncoscopy, the patient was operated. During
the operation, a rupture lying between the thoracic inlet to
the right main bronchus was detected and was repaired with
primary suture. The patient was discharged on the 20th day of
the operation, although a positive culture from the bronchial
system was detected during the perioperative period.
