An occupational accident causing tracheal rupture

A 61-year-old male patient with paraplegia resulting from working accident was admitted to a private hospital. He underwent bilateral tube thoracostomy and left arm amputation. The patient, who underwent thorax computed tomography on third day during the follow-up, was referred to our clinic due to suspected tracheal rupture. When the diagnosis of tracheal rupture was confirmed by rigid and fiberoptic broncoscopy, the patient was operated. During the operation, a rupture lying between the thoracic inlet to the right main bronchus was detected and was repaired with primary suture. The patient was discharged on the 20^th day of the operation, although a positive culture from the bronchial system was detected during the perioperative period.
