In this article, we report a 45-year-old female patient who
was admitted with the complaints of cough, dyspnea and
palpitation and referred to our clinic from Cardiology
Outpatient Clinic due to tachyarrhythmia with a preliminary
diagnosis of mediastinal mass. Thoracic computed
tomography (CT) showed a smooth, lobulated contour and
locally calcified cystic mass with a size of 7x6 cm in the
right-sided middle mediastinum showing air-fluid level.
The thorax was explorated from the fifth intercostal space
with a right posterolateral thoracotomy incision. Exploration
revealed a mediastinal mass originating from vena cava
superior at the upper part and reaching the lower lobe.
The mass was excised. The result of the histopathological
examination was reported as a dermoid cyst containing
hair, cartilage and sebaceous glands. We present this case as
cardiac arrhythmia is a rare sign of mediastinal cysts.
