Thrombosis on a heart valve without any accompanying cardiac or vascular pathology in coagulation disorders is a rare occasion. A 43-year-old female patient who was under follow-up for deep vein thrombosis was admitted to our clinic with dyspnea. On echocardiography, a freefloating thrombus of 70 to 80 mm in size attached to the non-coronary sinus of the aorta via a pedicle was detected. Fibrinolytic therapy was not performed due to its poor prognosis of possible complications. The thrombus was removed under cardiopulmonary bypass. Neither a pathology nor an additional thrombus was detected on the valve and within the heart. No postoperative complication was observed. Histopathological examination result was reported as a nonbacterial thrombus. Life-long warfarin sodium treatment was prescribed for recurrent thromboembolism. In this article, we describe the type and duration of the treatment, and follow-up of hereditary coagulation disorders and thromboembolism in other family members in the light of literature data.
