Hypertension at first 6-8 hours after coronary artery by-pass grafting operation, is seen ranging from 33% to 58% but may be as high as 70% in some studies [,,,]. Hypertension after coronary artery by-pass grafting, is charactehzed by an elevated systemic vascular resistance (SVR) in the presence of a near normal cardiac output (CO) [,]. Left ventricular filiing pressure is usually in the normal range. or minimally elevated.

The aim of this study is to compare the efficacies of Isradipine and Sodium Nitroprusside for treatment of hypertension after coronary artery by-pass grafting opration on hemodynamics in randomized and prospectively selected 40 consecutive patients who were operated in our institution.
