Eight cases with corcinoid tumors were treated at Yedikule Thoracic Surgery Center, between January 1991 - April 1994. Of these, 5 were female, 3 were male. The tumors were located on main bronchi in 4 cases, on lober bronchi in 3 cases and peripherally in one case. We
performed 4 pneumonectomies, 3 lobectomies and a mass extirpation via bronchotomy. Mediastinal ganglion sampling was performed routinely. Radical mediastinal dissection was
performed in a case because of positive hilar ganglion.
We recommend limited surgical resection and mediastinal sampling for Carcinoid tumors unless a positive ganglion is found.
