Between 1990-1993 years three patients with atrial myxomas were operated upon at Thoracic and Cardiovascular surgery Department of Ondokuz Mayıs University Medical Faculy. The oldest patient was 60 and the youngest 36 year old and mean age was 47.6. All patients were operated upon under cardiopulmonary bypass. Two cases were treated surgically by excision of myxomas which were attached by a thin peduncle to the left side of interatrial septum. In other case the myxoma was attached to the posterior mitral leflet and after excision of tumor and mitral valve together, mitral valve replacement was performed with prosthetic valve. All patients were discharged without any complications. Patient with miksomas should be operated upon as soon as diagnosed because of their life threatening thromboembolic and acute valvular obstructive complications.
