OPEN HEART SURGERY EXPERIENIE IN SSK SÜREYYAPAŞA HOSPITAL: THE FIRST CONSECUTIVE 100 CASES

In Süreyyapaşa, Thoracic and Cardiovascular Disease Hospital, which is the first and the only center performing coronary angiography and open heart surgery in Istanbul on behalf of SSK, 100 open heart operations were performed between April 2001-August 200. 84 patients underwent coronary artery bypass grafting (23 patients by OPCAB technique, 61 patients under CPB), 6 patients underwent mitral valve replacement, 2 patients underwent mitral valve repair, one patient underwent Benthall procedure, 5 patients underwent aortic valve replacement, 2 patients had ASD sekundum repair and one patient had ASD primum repair. In two patients CABG was performed concomitant with pneumonectomy in the same surgical setting and 6 patients had CABG concomitant with carotid endarterectomy. Hospital mortality was 6. 4 minor surgical infections and one mediastinit were detected. Mean intensive care unit stay was 2 days (1-6), whereas mean hospital stay was 7 days (6-17).
