Myocardial bridging is usually a benign anomaly which rarely needs surgical intervention. In this study, patients operated for myocardial bridging were evaluated retrospectively.
Materials and Methods:
Between 1990 - 2000, seven male patients with mean age of 46.42 + 11.08 (28.00-60.00) were operated for myocardial bridging. Simple supracoronary myotomy was performed in three patients while additional coronary bypasses were done in the others.
Results:
There were no morbidity or mortality after operation and all patients had symptomatic relief and excellent functional capacity in 4 months to 9 years of follow up.
Conclusion:
Supracoronary myotomy should be the method of choice in patients with myocardial bridging which has 51-100 % compression on the artery and nonresponsive to the medical treatment.
