The left ventricular assist device (VAD) may be a lifesaving therapy for a patient awaiting heart transplantation. One of the major complications seen after left VAD implantation is right ventricular dysfunction. Here reported patient was implanted with MicroMed DeBakey left VAD for bridging to heart transplantation. This patient is the third case assisted with MicroMed DeBakey axial flow pump in this country. He was bridged to transplantation. From this case we have learned that, isolated left VAD implantation in patients who have severe right heart failure may be possible if latter resolves with intensive inotropic agents and intra-aortic baloon pump.
