Surgical techniques in acute superior mesenteric artery thrombosis must achieve adequate visseral blood flow and avoid intestinal perforation of extremely fragile bowels. Reimplantation of superior mesenteric artery to infrarenal abdominal aorta usually achieve adequate blood flow. Bowels usually go down to pelvis by elevation of patients and keep away from the surgical area during the reimplantation. This simple maneuver avoids bowel perforation.
