Forty-five cases undergoing coronary artery surgery with internal thoracic artery-left anterior dessending artery anastomosis had a control coronary angiograhpy at last 6 months after the operation. 16 cases operated on with interrupted suture technique (Group I) 13 cases with continuous suture technique (Group II) and 11 cases with a combined suture technique (Group III). Cros clamp period was significantlly longer with the interrupted suture technique, compared with group II and III (p<0.0001 and p<0.05 respectively). During the mean follow-up of 30.7 months, 3 internal throacic artery grafts were occluded, 4 grafts developed stenosis. Overall patency rate was 93.3% with a linearized graft occlusion rate of 2.7 & / patient-year. There were 2 graft occulsions and 1 graft stenosis in Group I, 1 occlusion and 1 stenosis in Group II and 2 stenosis in Group III (p=not significant). It is concluded that, stricture at the anastomosis site can be encountered with each technique, and in this respect the techniques mentioned aboe are not superior to each other.
