Coronary artery bypass surgery is not frequent in cases with
primary biliary cirrhosis (PBC). Limited data about the
clinical course and prognosis of these patients is obtained
from small series. In this short report, we present our coronary
bypass surgery experience about a 66-year-old female
patient with PBC associated with coronary artery occlusive
disease. Although postoperative morbidity rate is expected
to be high, we believe that coronary bypass surgery with
cardiopulmonary bypass can be performed safely in patients
with mild and moderate degrees of PBC, if cardiopulmonary
bypass and aortic cross clamp times are not prolonged.
