Is traumatic arteriovenous fistula the cause of congestive heart failure? a case report

Acquired arteriovenous fistulas may have resulted from penetrant traumas. A 72-year-old male was hospitalized for dyspnea, swollen legs and ulserated dermatitis. Physical examination of the patient with a history of gunshot wound 45 years ago revealed congestive heart failure, left-leg venous insufficiency, and ulserated stasis dermatitis. We report this case, to remind that we can come across not just a simple venous insufficiency, but also a complex structure as congestive heart failure in a certain time period, if a patient with traumatic arteriovenous fistula is not diagnosed and treated immediately.
