Location of mediastinal giant tumors and adjacency of
the tumor to the heart, major vessels and bronchial tree
are important for surgery. In this article, we present a
complete surgical resection following preoperative coil
embolization for vascular invasion of anterior mediastinal
originated giant tumor. Partially resected giant mediastinal
mass due to bleeding was diagnosed as teratoma and
was found that the source of blood supply of tumor was
bilateral internal thoracic artery (ITA) and right lateral
thoracic artery during angiography six months ago. After
coil embolization of bilateral ITA, complete excision
was performed. Obtaining a safe and resectable mass by
the detection of vascular supply with angiography and
application of coil embolization help to achieve curative
therapy of the mediastinal tumors.
