We report a case associated with high-output cardiac
failure due to hyperthyroidsm after coronary bypass
surgery. Coronary bypass surgery had been performed on in a 49 year old male patient on 30th ,June 1995. In the early postoperative period he developed heart failure, and intraaortic balloon pumping and inotropic drugs had been administered. After measuring hemodynamic parameters a high-output cardiac state had been determined, which was due to T3 thyrotoxicosis. He was treated with beta-blocker + propylthiouracil + iodine. On the 6th day postoperatively hyperthyroidism had been controlled, and he was weaned from intraaortic balloon pumping on
the 7th day. Thereafter he was discharged from the hospital in a good condition.
