Diaphragmatic evantration or paralysis in adults is
associated with respiratory distress. In our clinic during the last decate we treated 8 female and 2 male patients with the mean age of 41.8 years. Tha etiologic causes were definite in 4 cases. Dispne was seen in all the cases and values of pulmonary function
test decrease in VC test PO2 in arterial blood were
observed.
Diagnosis was radiologically made. The cases were
undenwent to plication transthoracally. The mean
hospital stay was 6.4 days. Relief in symptoms and
increase in values VC and PO2 were seen postoperatively in the third month.
Plication is taken as on effective and necessary
method in symtomatic patients in order to restore
diaphragmatic position.
