Beetween 1985 and 15 July 1998, 444 bioprosthetic
valve replacements were performed at Koşuyolu
Heart and Research Hospital. 42 of them (9.57%), 40
MVR and 2 AVR, reoperated due to dysfunction in
ten year period. Mean durability was 8.1±2.2 years
(4-12). Early mortality rate was 4.8% with 2 cases.
Bileaflet mechanical prosthetic valves were used on
reoperations. Posioperative functional capacities of
the most of the operated patiens were NYHA class
I-II. Frequency of reoperation due to prosthetic valve
dysfunction has increared in last years. Reoperation
has a higher mortality and morbidity rates than first
operation.
