96 patients with bronchiectasis were treated in the Dept. of Pediatrics, Medical Faculty of Cerrahpaşa in the last ten years. Age ranged between 16 months and 14 years, mean 6.8±14.2 years. The most common symptoms were cough (96%), fever (68%), and sputum (46%), 45% of the cases had measles previously complicated with pneumonia, 13% pertusis, and 17% poorly controlled asthma brochiale. The diagnosis of bronchiectasis was confirmed by bronchography (59%), and/ or high resolution computed tomography (20%) and chest X-rays (21%). The left with recurrent lower respiratory tract infectins, chronic cough, chronic wheezing and sputum production and persistant infiltrates on the chest X-rays require further investigation for the diagnosis of broncliectasis.
