Videothoracoscopic techniques which have gained great access to thoracic procedures, around the world in the last 3 years, have been performed on 11 consecutive patients in our clinic with success. These procedures include (1) resection of apical bullae and pleurodesis in 4 patients; [] wedge resection of pulmonary nodules in 1 patient; [] excision of a medi- astinal tumor in l patient; [] excision of pericardium and drainage of the pericardial space in l patient; [] diagnostic thoracoscopy for the diagnosis and treatment of pleural disease. Postoperative pain was minimal in all patients. Non of the patients needed any narchotic analgesics. As the patients had very little pain, morbidity rates were very low. Postoperative complications such as athelectasis are expected to decrease with this procedure.
