Cardiac myxoma is the most common primary intracavitary tumor of the heart, and is usually located in the left atrium. Although usually histologically benign, it may cause sudden death because of intracardiac obstruction or embolism. We encountered a 38 years old man with a left atrial myxoma associated with acute myocardial infarction. During the hospital admission the patient had an episode of sudden anginal chest pain associated with electrocardiographyic changes of anteroseptal myocardial infarction. Coronary angiography showed normal coronary arteries. The tumor was surgically removed. In the absence of other etiologic possibilities, the left atrial myxoma was considered the main hypothesis with the development of thrombi and coronary embolization.
