Arterial switch operation is controversial in transpositions of great arteries (TGA) with left ventricular outflow tract (LVOT) or pulmonary valve abnormalities. In this study, we reported 3 consecutive patients with TGA and LVOT abnormalities who underwent an arterial switch operation between 1998 and 2001. In these patients, anatomic LVOT obstruction was developed due to fibromuscular tissues, anomalous muscle bands and subvalvar fibrous membranes. Additional abnormalities were ventricular septal defekt and/or bicuspid pulmonary valve. In all patients arterial switch operation was performed successfully with relief of LVOT obstruction.
