Between January 1993 and January 1998, 20 patients with primary tumor of the chest wall and sternum operated. The ages of patients ranged from 16 to 67 years with a mean of 44. There were 11 male, 9 female patients. Either aspiration or open, our method of tissue diagnosis is by biopsy. 10 tumors were bening and 10 were malignant. In malignant tumors we made en bloc resection with a free border diameter of 5 cm. If neccessary reconstruction of the chest wall accomplished with autologous tissue and prosthetic materials. There was no operative mortality. We conclude that early diagnosis, radical surgery and reconstriction is the treatment of choice.
