Congenital defects of the pericardium are rare. Total absence of the pericardium is rarely symptomatic. Frequently, the diagnosis of congenital pericardial defect is not made until surgical exploration in undertaken or postmortem examination is performed. We have seen this pathology at two patients who were operated on for other cardiac disease. One of them had coronary sinus anomaly with this defect. They were discharged from the hospital without any complication.
