Our goal is evaluate three different fixing solutions of the bovine pericardium used in heart
valve bioprostheses. We have done pericardiectomy in four mice. We impIantet the pericardium
at the near scapular area of the other four mice under intraperitonel anesthesia. On the other hand
we treated three pieces of bovine pericardium with three different solutions and ve implanted
these pieces at the near scapular area of three different mice. At the end of thirty days, we mea
sured the calsification with atomic absorption spectrophotometer and discused our result. We
measured that the glycerol of the mouse pericardium was minimal. The calcifitaion of the
bovine pericardium treated with glycerol was less than those with gluteraldehyde + formalde-
hyde. Pericardium treated with glycerol + formaldehyde had maximurn calcification.
