Body mass index (BMI, kg/m2) is used both for defining patient groups and as a risk factor itself. In this retrospective study, patients were divided into two main groups: heart valve disease and coronary artery disease, and BMIs were compared. Mean BMI was in normal range among valve disease group while coronary artery patients were overweight. Additionally BMIs were significantly higher in females at both groups.
