In lung cancer and mediastinal tumour surgery, the invasion of superior vena cava (SVC) is reported as the absolute contraindication due to its poor prognosis, the absence of ideal prosthetic material, the phsiological consideration of clamping of SVC, thrombosis of the graft and the risk of infection. We reported a case in which resection of SVC was performed by endovenous shunt procedure.
