Malign pleural mesothelioma is a kind of tümör which is seen rarely in children and difficult to diagnose [].

Although this type of tumor is generally seen in the elderly patients, only 4-5 % of them is seen in the first 20 years of life []. it was reported that 0.07 % of the deaths which are related to the malign tumors in infancy is related to malign mesothelioma []. 67.5 % of this rate progresses as being related to malign pleural mesothelioma [].

Especially in men and in both infants and adults malign pleural mesothelioma is seen. It may be seen as epithelial, sarcomatous and mixed types histopathologically []. Peritoncum, pericardium and scrotum are the other sites where malign mesothelioma rarely appears []. The one that is seen in adults is in relation with the contact of asbestos, but the one that is seen in children there is not any relation of this kind [,].

The girl was 8-years-old, who prensented with pleural effusion and pleural thickening in the basal Ieft lung field. Decortication and pleural effusion drainage by left lateral thoracotomy vvas performed. Pathological examination revealed sarcomatoid type of malign pleural mesothelioma. in this case report we have reviewed the literature.

Although these tumors generally have a weak response to chemo- and radiotherapy, we believe that close follow-up and radical surgery on time can improve the patients quality of life and increase their survival.
